Note the location of the thalamus relative to the hypothalamus in the medial view of the brain. Move caudally in the coronal sections and identify the thalamus. The thalamus forms the lateral walls of the third ventricle inferiorly, and the floor of the lateral ventricle superiorly. Make sure you see this in the coronal sections.
