The Caudate Nucleus forms an arc that passes from the rostral end of the diencephalon to its caudal end. As it proceeds in a caudal direction away from its head (the Caudate Head), the caudate arches superiorly and laterally and becomes thinner to form the Caudate Body. Caudally, the caudate body narrows further and forms the Caudate Tail, which then courses inferiorly and then rostrally.
